Patchwork Series #2
Brown stoneware. Cone 9 Glazes and oxides. 30 x 10. Recently featured in the Birmingham Arts Journal. This piece is for sale through the artist. This large vase is about my memories and emotions and how they change and fade through time. The piece is based on the "patchwork" of a quilt. In original quilting, like my grandmother's, were constructed of pieces of clothing. Clothing was not at a premium in the past. So clothes were normally worn until they fell apart. The patches of clothing used in quilts held memories for the quilt maker as well as for the wearer of the clothing. I incorporated this idea with my pottery because I like the different textures and colors of patches. In my pottery, they represent pieces of memories and emotions and how they change over time. When viewing these pieces ask yourself," What is the texture of a memory?". Price $1200.00. This ppeice will be hand-delivered due to it's size.

Gold Swirls
This piece is just a vase that I created last year. It is around 3 ft. in height. It is multi-fired; high-fired and then luster-fired with 22kt gold swirls. It was recently donated to the Safehouse for auction to help out this wonderful charity in Birmingham. Safehouse counsels battered women and provides a place to stay for them and their children while working to get the women/families in a safe place. It is featured in the current (2008) edition of the Birmingham Art Journal.

Urban Deconstruction #1
Another skirted Patchwork Vase. This is a large piece in the series. This one represents memories of the city. It is one of three that are deconstructed commentaries on urban decay and renewal.
